Who is Eligible?

Joining a business incubator is probably one of the most important steps you can take to ensure the future success of your business. As you probably know, only 20% of all businesses are still in operation 5 years after they start. However, when a company joins and graduates from a business incubator, its chance of survival after 5 years increases to 87%. That is a tremendous advantage for your business and quite a disadvantage for your competition!

Since NATBI has limited resources, we need to carefully select our applicants. The Admissions Committee will judge your company against the following entrance criteria:

1) A realistic business and marketing plan with projections to grow the business.

2) Reasonable credit history and adequate financial resources to remain in business for at least 6 months.

3) A strong management team with at least 1 full-time person* working in the business. (*Consideration is given to student and faculty run businesses.)

4) A match between the needs of your company and the resources available within the NATBI program.

5) Not in direct competition with other incubator clients.

6) A product or service that is consistent with the environmental needs of the area.

7) No legal claims or lawsuits pending against the business.

8) The potential for multiple job creation at wages higher than the county average. (Depending upon which county the business is located.)

9) The potential for your company to generate sales outside of the local area.

10) A business located in northern Arizona with plans to stay for at least 3 years.

Please note that these criteria are guidelines only and you do not need to meet every one. The final decision for admission is based on the potential of your business to grow and expand given the resources at our disposal.

Thank you again for your interest in NATBI. We look forward to receiving your completed application.
